DISSONANCES is a one-day public event in Luxembourg on AI hybrid filmmaking.
Manifesto
NEXT IMAGE CULTURE LUXEMBOURG is a space for technical images, damaged perfection and visual autonomy; a laboratory for filmmaking after the smooth machine; a place where apparatus, dissonance and future imagination collide; and an invitation to play with the apparatus and create images for worlds that do not yet exist.
The format & who it is for
At Cine Utopia, filmmakers, artists, students and industry meet for an opening talk, a live LETZ.AI Canvas demo, a screening and a panel that pair theory with hands-on practice. For filmmakers, students, artists, producers, universities, media organisations and cultural institutions, the programme explores not only how AI is changing film, but how it can create new scenes, atmospheres, characters and visual worlds.
Our point of departure is Theodor W. Adorno’s book Dissonances: Music in the Administered World. For Adorno, dissonance is tension and truth: resistance against false harmony.
The smooth image is allowed to grind.

Vilém Flusser called the images of cameras, film and software “technical images”: the apparatus decides what becomes visible. Hugo Gernsback added technological imagination, turning science fiction into a laboratory for possible futures.
In Post-Image Culture, an image no longer only shows the world. It also shows the system that made it, and error, deviation and surprise become method.
AI is not a replacement for filmmakers but a machine for visual speculation. Prompts become sketches, models become collaborators, science fiction becomes prototyping. The goal is visual autonomy.
Deviation as method, futures as prototypes.
